B2MeM Prompt 10: Travel
I'm finally getting back to B2MeM!

Since it's been a while since I posted this: I don't own the characters or setting; Tolkien does.

Drabble, Maglor and Maedhros, G. Uses the round world from "Myths Transformed."

Longing

I looked out over the Sea, knowing I wouldn’t be able to see the land of my birth. It was too far away, and the curve of the earth meant I wouldn’t be able to see it even if it was closer.

“Maglor?” I turned to face my only living brother. “You cannot stay here forever.”

“I know. But I miss home.”

“So do we all. But your sons need your attention.”

I nodded, took one last look at the sullen gray waves, and headed back to our reduced camp, to care for the children whose lives I had destroyed.

Aww poor Maglor. They must have had such moments at that point of the story (or maybe even earlier).

Poor Maglor indeed. And they definitely had them earlier, but after the Third Kinslaying, it had to be much harder.

Oh. I like this a lot. Poor Maedhros and Maglor must've had a lot of truly awful moments at various points in the story.

Thank you. :)

I can't imagine them not having those moments-- it's part of the tragedy.

Very melancholic, but brilliantly captured. You've really got Maglor's character down pat. :)

Thank you! Maglor just speaks to me.
